About the Essential Oils used in this room spray
Hinoki Chamaecyparis Obtusa
Hinoki is a Japanese cypress known for use in ancient, sacred architecture, from Shinto shrines to Buddhist temples, as well as bath tubs, associated with purifying spaces. Hinoki was traditionally harvested in the fall and winter months on the new moon, when moisture content in the wood was the lowest. This made the wood stronger when dried, and more fragrant as the oil content would be proportionately higher.
Benefits of Hinoki oil: Promotes relaxation and stress relief, uplifts mood, and clears the air of stagnant energy.
Contraindications / Hazards: None known
ʻIliahi (Hawaiian Sandalwood) Santalum paniculatum
Hawaiian Sandalwood, or ʻIliahi, is a native Hawaiian endemic tree valued for its fragrance like its Indian cousin. Although very similar, compared to regular Sandalwood, Hawaiian Sandalwood has a lighter and sweeter scent.
Strawberry Guava leaf extract
As part of sister brand Mamaki Skin’s Invasive Medicinals initiative, we have included strawberry guava leaf extract in this spray. Strawberry guava is a highly invasive tree that takes over native habitats, but like all “invasive” plants, they have potent medicinal qualities. The Invasive Medicinals initiative takes these unwanted plants and instead of poisoning the earth further to remove them, they utilize them and replace the area with native plants.
